CAREFUL

How to Re-sort Organisational Fields

Introduction

Re-sorting organisational fields allows you to change the order in which custom patient fields appear throughout CAREFUL. This affects how fields are displayed in patient profiles, forms, and reports across your entire organisation. The order you set here determines the sequence in which staff members see and complete patient information.

Before You Start

Required Permission: You must be an Organisation Administrator to access this feature.

Note: Changes to field order affect all users in your organisation immediately.

Steps
  1. From the sidebar, click My Organization to open your organisation view.

  2. Click the kebab menu (⋮) in the top-right corner of the page to open the organisation functions menu.

  3. Select Edit Organization Patient Fields from the dropdown menu. The "Edit Organization Fields [Your Organisation Name]" dialog box appears, showing all your custom fields as individual cards.

  4. Locate the move icon (≡ three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner of each field card. This is your drag handle.

  5. Click and hold the move icon on the field you want to reposition. The field card background changes to light blue, indicating you're dragging it.

  6. Drag the field up or down to your desired position in the list. As you drag, light grey zones appear showing valid drop locations.

  7. Release the mouse button to drop the field in its new position. The change saves automatically — there's no save button to click.

  8. Repeat steps 5-7 for any other fields you want to reorder.

  9. When finished, click the X in the top-right corner of the dialog to close it and return to the organisation view.

Tips
  • Automatic saving: Changes persist immediately when you drop a field. You don't need to click a save button.

  • No undo: Once you drop a field, the new order is saved. To revert a change, simply drag the field back to its original position.

  • Cannot reorder during editing: If you're currently editing a field name or adding a new field, you won't be able to reorder until you finish or cancel that operation.

  • Visual feedback: Watch for the light blue background while dragging and the grey drop zones to see where your field will land.

  • Field visibility: Reordering doesn't affect which fields are visible or hidden — it only changes their display order. Use the visibility toggle on each field card to show or hide fields.

  • System-wide impact: The order you set applies to all users in your organisation, so consider consulting your team before making significant changes to frequently-used fields.
