Introduction
When you need to take responsibility for every patient currently in your team, you can do this with a single action rather than taking responsibility for patients individually. This is particularly useful during shift changes or when providing cover for colleagues.
Before You Start
- You must be a member of the team whose patients you want to take responsibility for
- You cannot take responsibility if you are not an active member of the team
- Other team members who are on duty will receive notifications for each patient you take responsibility for
Steps
- From the sidebar, click Teams to expand the teams accordion
- Select the team whose patients you want to take responsibility for
- The team view opens, showing the team's patient list
- Click the kebab menu (⋮) in the top navigation bar
- From the dropdown menu, select Take responsibility for all patients
- A confirmation dialog appears with the title "Take Responsibility All Patients in Team"
- The dialog displays the message: "Please confirm that you wish to take responsibility for all patients in this team"
- Click the Take Responsibility button to confirm
- The dialog closes automatically and the team view refreshes to show you as the responsible clinician for all patients in the team
What Happens Next
- You immediately become the responsible clinician for all patients currently assigned to this team
- Other team members can see that you are now responsible for these patients
- Other users who are on duty will receive notifications informing them that you have taken responsibility for each patient
- The patient list updates to reflect your new responsibilities
- You can now manage handovers, create actions, and update clinical notes for all these patients
Tips
- This action only affects patients currently in the team at the time you use this feature -- it does not automatically assign you to new patients added later
- If you need to hand over these patients to a colleague, you can use the "Handover all my patients in this team" option from the same kebab menu
- Before using this feature at the start of a shift, check which patients are currently in the team so you know which patients you're taking responsibility for
- This is different from taking responsibility for a single patient, which you can do from the patient's individual record
